How to Apply

PRIORITY DEADLINE: February 8

After February 8, applications are reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis. Transfer inquiries are welcome year-round.

Applying to USL is a personal, low-pressure process built around finding the right fit. We get to know your child at every step—and we want your family to get to know us, too.

1

VISIT CAMPUS

Attend an Open House or schedule a student-led tour. You’ll meet the admissions coordinator, current students, parents, and faculty, and get a real sense of USL’s culture and experiential learning model.

2

SUBMIT A PRELIMINARY APPLICATION

Fill out our short online form so we can get to know your child — their academic background, interests, and what draws them to USL. The Divisional Director will follow up with you after reviewing it.

3

SHADOW DAY

Your child spends time with a current USL student during a regular school day. Intermediate School applicants (grades 3–5) shadow for two days; Middle and Upper School applicants shadow for one. Contact us at admissions@uslowcountry.org or (843) 884-0902 to schedule.

4

INVITATION TO FINALIZE

After a successful shadow day, you’ll be invited to complete the full application: a FACTS account, official transcripts, three recommendation letters, and a $100 non-refundable fee.

5

SUBMIT ACADEMIC RECORDS

Request that your child’s current school send official transcripts directly to USL using the Parent Authorization for Release of School Records form.

6

PROVIDE THREE RECOMMENDATIONS

USL requires questionnaires completed and emailed from an English teacher, a math teacher, and one additional teacher, coach, or mentor. Elementary applicants may substitute the prior year’s teacher for one letter.

7

ADMISSIONS ASSESSMENT

Students take a short reading and math assessment at USL. For Middle and Upper School applicants, this can be scheduled after the shadow day has been completed. Contact us at admissions@uslowcountry.org or (843) 884-0902 to schedule.

8

RECEIVE YOUR DECISIONS

Once all materials are submitted, families typically hear from the Divisional Director within two weeks.
