University School earns recognition from Lowcountry Parent Magazine readers as Best Private School

With its hallmark Learning Outside the Classroom program, University School of the Lowcountry has earned top honors from Lowcountry Parent Magazine readers in the publication’s annual Mom’s Choice Awards. The school was voted Best Private School and also earned recognition as the Runner-Up for Best Elementary School.

The Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC) program, which features a weekly field trip to immerse students in real world experiences, truly sets the school apart. Students experience everything from touring museums and enjoying live theatre performances to kayaking Shem Creek and exploring military bases. These field trips allow students to connect what they are learning inside the classroom with what’s happening on a daily basis in the world around them.

In addition to the LOTC program, University School of the Lowcountry stands out for its customized academics and small class sizes, as well as its leadership and life skills program. The school focuses on developing a student’s skills in areas such as organization, recognizing the strengths of others, time management, and socializing with both peers and adults. This results in students who are well-rounded, confident, and prepared to be engaged citizens in our community.
