LOTC Reflection: League of Women Voters & Shayna Howell

The League of Women Voters has been in operation for almost 100 years. Shayna has been a member for 12 years. The LWV focuses on supporting citizens’ right to vote. They also educate voters. For example, 100% of states that didn’t ratify the Equal Rights Amendment were from the Southeast. For the last Presidential election, only 50% of Millennials voted. They believe voting is not enough. They want social media posts, peer groups, and meetings to discuss politics. They believe that students’ opinions matter and that students are great advocates. Our perspective is important. They just want more people involved.
