SCA Tournament of the Silver Chalice

September 24 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Do you like Medieval crafts, skills, and more?  Consider joining Mr. Kreutner for a Society for Creative Anachronism event on Saturday, September 24 in Harleyville (a 55 minute drive from USL, near Summerville).
The Tournament of the Silver Chalice will be held at the Harleyville Community Center and it includes Martial, Art, and Science activities.  There is also a space-limited (buy tickets online) meal that is emblematic of a 1530s dinner!  This is not a Renaissance Fair, but the people involved seek to know the ways of that era and the public is welcome to attend (there is an admission charge).

Attire

The event organizers will provide us with optional loaner garb / tunics. Please RSVP with number needed and sizes by 9/17.  They indicate that a dark shirt and dark sweats/pajama pants work well underneath.

More from the SCA on this:

We request that all participants make “an attempt” at pre-17th-century clothing commonly referred to as “Garb”. This can be simply:
• A large tunic style shirt.
• Plain pants preferably not jeans.
• Comfortable shoes. Attempt to avoid modern style shoes.
• A blanket to wear as a cloak to stay warm.
• A large wide-brimmed hat or cowl.
As you pick items, always remember to try not to make them “obtrusively modern”. The Chatelaine can assist with loaner garb if needed.
Modern prosthetics and glasses are allowed.

We would prefer you to enjoy yourself comfortably instead of trying to fit into a period aesthetic.
