12/12, Wednesday - Kwanzaa presentation. Gratitude and "Random Acts of Kindness" through baking and delivering cookies for our neighbors, friends of the school, and for the children at Windwood Farm

3/5, Wednesday - Medical University of South Carolina experience with Dr. Gerard Silvestri (Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine), and this will include anatomy of the lungs, breathing tests, and simulated bronchoscopy

3/12, Wednesday - Grammar workshops and on-campus learning games

Week 30 (March 17-20)

3/19, Wednesday - Conclusion of achievement testing, joint activities with Hibben Preschool's K-5 class, 2-D physics computer simulation, and science independent projects.

4/9, Wednesday - Exploration of library resources and research techniques at the College of Charleston's Addlestone Library (Calhoun Street). Tour of the American Military Museum (near the Aquarium).

Week 33 (April 14-18)

4/17, Thursday - Day cruise on the South Carolina Maritime Heritage Foundation's tall ship "Spirit of South Carolina." The day's activities will include history, science, and math lessons in a truly unique environment.

4/30, Wednesday - The Center for Birds of Prey (by the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge near Awendaw)

Week 36 (May 5-9)

5/7, Wednesday - Adult & Child CPR training by instructors from the Carolina Lowcountry Red Cross chapter. This will include learning to use an automated external defribillator (AED -- one of which we have on campus).

Week 37 (May 12-16)

5/15, Thursday - We will take part in a regional field survey of the extent of the Cogongrass infestation. Cogongrass is a finely-toothed weed that can upend ecosystems as it forces out native species. We will be doing our survey in and around Francis Marion National Forest.

Week 38 (May 19-23)

5/21, Wednesday - We will explore the Maritime Administration vessel Cape Decision. We will examine the components of the ship, learn about cargo loading/unloading, discover more about the workings of hydraulics, and eat lunch at the port.

Week 39 (May 27-30)

5/28, Wednesday - Our final Learning Outside the Classroom experience for the 2007-2008 year will be a day of outdoor activities, lunch, and reflection at Mrs. Rowland's house in Ravenel.
