2014-2015 Special Events

August TBD (.)... USL faculty and interested parents will take Darkness to Light sexual abuse awareness training at 9:30 AM.

August 25 (Mon. )... Open House for Parents at 6 PM in the gym.

September TBD (Wed.)...From 5:45-7 PM, University School students, faculty, parents and mentors will enjoy a community potluck meal and each other’s company.  Mr. Kreutner will also give a picture presentation about the opening weeks of school and the learning and activities the students and the community have been involved in.

September TBD (Th.)...University School will be represented at the First Grade Fair at TBD from 5:30-7:30 PM.

September TBD (Wed.)...At 6 PM, Mr. Medlock will lead a meeting for parents interested in learning more about the process of researching, visiting and deciding on the right high school for your child. This session will include tips for all 8th grade parents concerning the process and also a presentation on the important dates throughout the Fall and Winter at our local area high schools.

September TBD (Fri.)...Students & Mentors Activity - USL students and mentors will enjoy a movie, games, and food in the gym from 6:30-8:30 PM.

Late-Sept., early-Oct. TBD (Wed.)... We will help the Hibben UMC community unload and arrange the pumpkins on the lawn facing Coleman Blvd. Afterwards enjoy a free pizza dinner in the gym!

October TBD (Th.)...University School will be represented at the High School Fair at Mason Prep School from 6:30-8:00 PM.

October TBD (Sat.)... The USL community will assist Hibben UMC with their annual Fall Festival from 10 AM - 2 PM.

October 19 (Sun.)... The USL community will have a game booth, assist with the CARTA info booth, and help with clean-up at the Mount Pleasant Children's Festival at Park West Recreational Complex (12 PM-5 PM)

October TBD .....Intermediate School Family Day in the morning. IS students will share what they have learned this year with members of their family in this morning event.

November 4 (Tues.)....University School will conduct its annual exit polling exercise on Election Day at precincts across the Lowcountry. This cycle is statewide and Congressional elections, and parents, alumni and the USL community are welcome to take part in this activity during the school day.

November TBD (Fri.) ...Students & Mentors Activity - USL students and mentors will enjoy a movie, games, and food in the gym from 6:30-8:30 PM.

November TBD (Mon.) ...Open House for prospective and interested families at 6 PM. Meet teachers, students, and parents and learn more about University School.

November TBD (Tues.).....USL community gathering for the James Island County Park's Holiday Festival of Lights

November 14 (Fri.)... University School students, faculty, alumni, and parents will take part in National Day of Caring service projects through the Trident United Way in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.

November TBD (Mon.).....MS students will bring food dishes for a USL community lunch celebrating another culture

December TBD (Fr.)...University School students, faculty, parents and mentors will enjoy a pizza dinner and each other’s company from 6:00-7:30 PM in the gym.  Mr. Kreutner will also give a picture presentation about the first semester and the learning and activities the students and the community have been involved in. We also ask that each student bring a few durable food items that we will donate to the Lowcountry Food Bank. This is an annual tradition to support the Food Bank.

Nov.-Jan. TBD (Sat.).....USL Board Retreat

January TBD (Sat.) ...Optional Family LOTC to the Charleston Chinese Association's Chinese New Year Celebration.

February 13 (Fri.)....University School will enjoy the annual LOTC to the Southeastern Wildlife Expo and other attractions downtown. Parents, alumni and the USL community are welcome to take part in this activity during the school day.

February TBD (Fri.)...Students & Mentors Activity - USL students and mentors will enjoy a movie, games, and food in the gym from 6:30-8:30 PM.

March TBD (Mon.) ...Open House for prospective and interested families at 6 PM. Meet teachers, students, and parents and learn more about University School.

March TBD (Fri.) ...Community Potluck Dinner and All-School Talent Show (5:45 in the gym)

April TBD (Fri.)...Students & Mentors Activity - USL students and mentors will enjoy a movie, games, and food in the gym from 6:30-8:30 PM.

Late-May (Thurs.)...Eighth Grade Graduation Lunch - eighth graders will cook and serve lunch for their families, USL faculty, and the Middle School in appreciation for their support and their experience at University School. Seventh graders will serve as apprentices, and the event will conclude with speeches delivered by the eighth graders in which they thank their families, teachers, and friends

May TBD (Fri.)...Students & Mentors Activity - USL students and mentors will enjoy a movie, games, and food in the gym from 6:30-8:30 PM.

2014 Summer Activities

USL hosts several activities in the summer to allow incoming students and interested families to spend time with members of the USL community (fellow students, faculty, teen and young adult mentors). Please be sure to RSVP to Judy Hubbard (jhubbard@uslowcountry.org) by email at least two days before the activity you plan to attend.
